Graphic designer Don Moyer, has revisited this tradition with its line of dishes “Calamityware”.

Moyer cleverly mimics oriental motifs in his dishes but adds flying monkeys, UFO attacks, sea monsters, and much more.

I love to draw. The drawings I like best are those that make me laugh. Several years ago. I started drawing calamityware—traditional willow-pattern dinner plates with a tranquil scene threatened by impending calamity.

Two plates have already been created and are available in his shop.
