Charlie Immer is a 1983-born artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He hold a BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. His colorful paintings and illustrations depict a surreal universe of poppy creatures engaged in violent actions uncovering underneath the cute surface anatomical layers of a gory aesthetic.

In an interview with Sunrise Artists, Charlie explains:

“My concepts come from my fascination with anatomy and my love of candy and toys.  I have so much fun creating the blood and bones of my characters. The contrast of the smooth bodies and the complex systems beneath spilling out is very appealing to me.”

This contrast adequately calls for a parallel with the grotesque nature of a carnival. Make sure you also check out his blog and follow him on Twitter to stay updated on his shows and print releases: @SkeletonSlime
