Danilo RolleRipo is grown up in NY City and discovered graffiti art pretty early, but he never wondered this passion would have brought him into amazing trips around the world. In 2006 he moved to Barcelona becoming part of the local scene very soon, and in the same year he made an european tour around 24 countries, counting on the hospitality of a large connection of street artists. The second trip is entitled “South Central Tour”, it took 6 months and he visited 11 countries in Central and South America.
Ripo è cresciuto a New York e presto si è avvicinato all’arte dei graffiti, ma non avrebbe mai immaginato che questa passione lo avrebbe portato a intraperendere viaggi fantastici. Trasferitosi a Barcellona nel 2006, in breve tempo si ambienta nella scena locale, lo stesso anno intraprende un viaggio attravaerso 24 paesi europei confidando sull’ospitalità di una fitta rete si street artist e writers locali. Il secondo viaggio intitolato “South Central Tour” dura 6 mesi attraverso undici paesi del Centro e Sudamerica.
During this trip, Ripo, focused on large typography pieces, inspired by a variety of local signs and insignia. Ripo studied and photographed typography styles in each city to reproduce them in his work, with the difference that the words he used had an aesthetic meaning instead of functional.
Durante questo viaggio Ripo si concentra su pezzi tipografici di grande dimensioni, ispirato dalla varietà di insegne e cartelli segnaletici locali. Ripo ha studiato e fotografato gli stili tipografici di ogni città per poi riprodurli nei suoi pezzi, con la differenza che le parole e le espressioni avevano uno scopo non funzionale ma estetico.
