Featuring new work by six young, up-and-coming artists; Danielle Buerli, JAW Cooper, Jessica LL Dalva, Tom Haubrick, Sinae Park and Bryce Takara, ‘Critters and People’ will be a shining example of the new crop of talents that call LA home and where our local art scene is headed in 2012.

‘Critters & People’ provides the platform for these six to do what they do best. The result is an extraordinary collection of 2D and 3D works running the gamut of medium and technique.

His unique style of painting uses acrylic on clear resin which is poured into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality.

David Pintor is an illustrator, cartoonist, designer and painter. As illustrator, he has collaborated with some of the most important publishing houses as Everest, SM, Anaya, Kalandraka, Sotelo Blanco, Círculo de lectores, Biblos, Combel…He has created, with Chinto (Pinto and Chinto), the comic character Tito Longueirón, who after going out weekly in the supplement of humor Xatentendo.com, in a little time has turned into one of the series with more success among the readers of tales. So much it is so his adventures have been exported to other publications as Tretzevents. Also there has realized illustrations for the magazines El Virus Mutante, Golfiño, BD Banda, Tretzevents, ECO, and Sapoconcho. He took part in numerous national and international exhibitions. From 2004, he has started his career as a painter, showing interest to look for new horizons in the area of plastic arts and design and his works have already travelled around different cities in several exhibitions.
The illustrations that I present here are like a journey through time and space. The works were made for the spanish magazine Leer to promote literature in the summer and at Christmas. The technique used is the ink coloured by computer, with which the picture gets a dynamic and much closer view.The result is a reminiscence of comics and cartoons that he usually done with Chinto but with large doses of nostalgia, fixing the details: violins, bikes, coffee shops, books, windows … which create a bohemian landscape and places where no time passes. They are in our memory or in our travels, as a postcard we sent our memories and we are always excited every time we see them.

He always try to experiment different topics, textures and media, as we may see in his videos: urban murals, storytellers, brief films with music…all is possible to communicate and to create a new environment, playing with our imagination.

William Quigley (born in Pennsylvania, USA) is a working artist in New York and Los Angeles.

His first exhibition was with Andy Warhol in 1985 at Henry McNeil Gallery in Philadelphia.

He has shown in Museums, galleries, and Art Fairs on an international level ever since.

His works have been shown at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Charles Craigg Museum Santa Barbara, Reina Sofia, Art Basel, Chicago, Arco, Manny Silverman, Pablos Birthday NY, Ferran Cano in Spain, 71Mercer, and Arne Zimmermann (just to name a few).

Quigley was one of the first American painters to show at the Miro Foundation in Mallorca through Galeria Ferran Cano.

William Quigley’s artwork is collected all over the world.

In 1994 he founded and owned the infamous, AB Gallery, directed by Dan Bernier, who exhibited fledgling talents like Marc Chiat, Manuel Ocampo, Steve Hurd, Jason Rhoades, and many more.

He also founded, designed, and directed his street aesthetic tshirt line, Skrapper. “If it doesn’t excite you, why bother?” William Quigley.

This artist is well known for his Boxer and Civil War Series. Yet, his abstract Phone Notes and India series make choosing favorites quite difficult.

Quigley has painted commissioned portraits of, and in many cases for, President Bush and Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jordan, Shaquille Oneal, LeBron James, Wayne Gretzky, Eminem, Mohammed Ali, Bruce Springsteen, Ice Cube, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.

His work was featured on Life Styles of the Rich and Famous because of his influential high end clientele.

Because of his dedication to children and charities in 2007 was selected as VH1 featured artist of the year along with honorees President William and Senator Hillary Clinton, John Mayer, Roger Waters, and John Sykes.

Most recently he began production his first Career Series of Ethchings, and Silkscreens, produced at Boston University by Printmaker Aithan Shapira.

The Surreal Paintings of Payam Montazami

Born in Iran, raised in Belgium and educated in Montreal, Payam Montazami has been combining the Surrealist expression of the unconscious with culturally relevant subject matter for over 10 years. Through painting and sculpture, Payam’s work aims to challenge and probe the audience just as much as the audience does his works. On the surface, one is drawn in by the distorted beauty and underlying humor of Payam’s pieces, and this often leads to a deeper emotional connection with the work.

Payam aims to accentuate and contrast the unnatural creatures that inhabit his otherworldly landscapes which deal with the consequences of tampering with nature.

Payam’s work uses traditional forms of art media such as paint and physical materials, bolstered by his years of experience experimenting with electronic and digital arts. His minimalist interactive installations have been unleashed for public consumption on numerous occasions, most recently with inclusion at the Montreal S.A.T. Interactive Arts Exhibits. Payam’s pieces have been nominated for various “best of show” awards, based on the strong innovation, inventiveness and entertainment value of his work.

He currently continues to produce unique pieces as well as supporting his website, Sunrise Artists, which is aimed at helping young undiscovered artists in his community. Payam holds a BFA from Concordia University in Montreal.
