Valencia Design Week #1

Yesterday was the first day at Valencia Design Week. We had a really full scheduled day, with many interesting visits. Starting with some graphic design masterpieces by Pepe Gimeno, one of the most influent designer in Valencia and in the whole Spain; the exhibition has been attended by Pepe himself, explaining the processes behind the projects. One in particular has captured our attention, a personal project called “Diary of a Shipwreck Survivor”, consisting in a deliciously crafted book containing a collection of art/graphic pieces made of objects found on the shore.

We then had a stop at Odosdesign, a product design studio. The space is lovely, people are great as much as their project, and the thing that really impressed is that they not just create the design of the product, but they also make the art direction of its communication. This is being creative! This professional and amazingly inspiring aproach is what we found in each of the Valencian studios we have been today.

The end of the day has been illuminating, not just literally. The visit to Luzifer lamp factory showed us a reality we supposed to find just in California maybe. The creative aproach of this team of amazing people should really be teached at school. The place is an amazing former wine farm in the countryside, the picnic area was just stunning (as the food) and their creative process and production is pure art. Also they really make art of their products, with a designer creating digital art out of their photographed lamps, making series of prints and doing exhibitions of them! And inviting graffiti artists to create art pieces and displaying them in the factory (which basically is a big lab where lamps are handmade one by one!), and calling illustrators and artists to create original artworks for their catalogues, posters and stuff. What we found there was Art rather than “simply” product design. Really inspiring.

Valencia Disseny Week 2011

We’re proudly partner of Valencia Disseny Week 2011. Goals of Valencia Disseny Week are to: promote Valencian, national and international design; raise awareness and promote the design culture, bringing it closer to society; convey to the business sector that design is an effective tool for industrial improvement and economic sustainability. This last one is a very important topic in this period, and it will be interesting to hear the design world’s answer.

We’ll be attending for a whole week to all the main events taking place in Valencia, so stay tuned

Jeremy Fish Mural in Progress

Want to customize a wall of your home? Maybe with a nice mural? Well, you could take a look at this piece from Jeremy Fish. We can see step by step the born of this mural he made for his personal exhibition at Fecal Face Dot Gallery, San Francisco.

Really interesting the use of his typical cut out wooden figures to create a 3D effect in the center of the wall.

Le tag au Grand Palais

From march 23 to may 3 2009 graffitis and tags have found a new exhibition place at Grand Palais de Paris. Curator of the exhibition the architect Alain-Dominique Gallizia, who selected 300 artworks by the most important names worldwide in graffiti art. KoiKoiKoi has got some exclusive pictures.

In more than 700 meters of exhibition has took place names like Taki 183, considered the inventor of the tagging phenomenon, Seen, legendary writer, one of the most important in USA, the french Bando, but also important italian names like Microbo and Bo13o.

The streets of Jeremyville – Solo show

I think Jeremyville doesn’t need any introduction. Eclectic artist with a unique style, this Australian guy has created an entire world.

He has collaborated with a lot of brands like Mtv, Lego, Adidas, Kidrobot, Convers, Diesel, Adio, Sony… and a lot of artists like Gary Baseman, TvBoy, Jon Burgerman, Tado, Ben Frost, Superdeux and many many more.

Last Aprile 7 at Area B gallery in Milan there was the opening of his new solo show, ending on June 26.

We were there to take a look and meet Jeremy, who was drawing and customizing toys for fans. We took some shots and a video for you.
