Skateboard Sculptures by Haroshi

Haroshi, is a Japanese wood sculptor. He creates three-dimensional art pieces from used and broken skateboard decks, in a style that varies from mosaic to dots or pixels. Elements are connected either in their original form or in shapes, which are then shaven, painted and polished into the final candy-like sculpture pieces.

Due to his longterm passion for skateboarding, Haroshi knows his ‘raw material’ exhaustively. He searches through thousands of old decks and selects the perfect boards to use for his final pieces. A curious artistic detail of Haroshi’s work, is that during construction, each sculpture is given a “soul”, a metal skateboard piece which is placed in the centre of the final sculpture, making every piece the more unique.
