Mesmerizing video by Matthew Brown: "Dear Japan"

Below we share a mesmerizing video titled “Dear Japan”. It was shot with a handheld Canon EOS 7D by Nathan Miller, edited by Matthew Brown using the track “Empty Room Trailer Version” by Zack Hemsey.

Interestingly, the video manages to present Japan in an original fashion: the images possess a timeless quality and they rather create an impression of a single person’s memories than a stereotypically Japanese representation (we’ve all seen enough already). The editing and choice of soundtrack are simply superb, perfectly matched and manage to create a threefold effect:

  1. a cinematic effect
  2. a surreal effect, like a dream or a stream of flashbacks.
  3. and there is a certain, refreshing focus on the traditional ghostly and eerie

Enjoy!
